Celebrating Women’s History Month ✨ A Founder’s Perspective
I know firsthand how rewarding (and challenging) it can be to carve out space as an independent fashion brand. This journey isn’t always easy, but what makes it worth it is the incredible support from fellow creatives, founders, and customers like you. Women’s History Month is the perfect time to celebrate the businesses and entrepreneurs who inspire me, some of whom I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with along the way.
This year, I want to highlight a few brands that share a commitment to thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and community. Some are woman-owned, others are woman-led, but all are making an impact.
Tamara Malas
Bold, size-inclusive fashion that’s as fun as it is intentional. If you’re in NYC, visit her Lower East Side shop to shop our Fruits collection in person or explore her other designs online.
bywolfgang
Handmade jewelry that blends edge and sweetness, crafted by Veronica — who also happens to be a model for Uye Surana! Her pieces are lovingly made by hand and add the perfect touch to any outfit.
Solonje Burnett aka Weed Auntie
A powerhouse event host and curator of unforgettable experiences. We were thrilled to be part of her Dreams & Desires event, where guests could shop our luxury lingerie to set the scene for stunning boudoir photoshoots. Follow her for upcoming events & explore her lifestyle brand, Weed Auntie.
SASS Brooklyn
A woman-led brand making chocolates with benefits — infused with brain-boosting fungi and relaxing botanicals. Perfect for a little indulgence, especially for the neurodivergent mind.
Hit House NYC
Kickboxing, reimagined. Their proprietary boxing bag is tough yet soft, so you can train hard without the bruises. If you’re in NYC and looking for a new way to move your body, this is the spot.
Alterre Shoes
Comfy and stylish shoes — with interchangeable straps so you can switch up your look effortlessly. With a like-minded approach to thoughtful design, it’s no surprise we both studied at Parsons School of Design.
A Thank You from Uye Surana
Women’s History Month is about recognition, appreciation, and empowerment —and that’s something we believe in year-round. Let’s continue to lift each other up, support independent creators, and celebrate small businesses that make a difference.
Which of these brands are you excited to check out? Let’s me know in the comments.
